Four things to keep straight
Chuseok 2026 falls on September 24–26. Korail’s Chuseok ticketing applies to trains running September 23–27. General train reservations opened on September 7, while KTX general-customer booking takes place September 8–11. Keep the holiday dates, train operation dates, and booking dates by train type clearly separated.
KTX line-by-line general booking
KTX general bookings run September 8–11 daily from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM. On September 8 you can book KTX serving Seoul and Cheongnyangni on the Gyeongjeon, Gangneung, Donghae, Jungang, and Jungbu Naeryuk lines. September 9 covers lines serving Yongsan on the Honam and Jeolla lines. September 10 covers trains calling at Suseo on the Gyeongbu, Gyeongjeon, Donghae, Honam, and Jeolla lines. On September 11 KTX on the Gyeongbu Line serving Seoul Station is available. Even with the same origin and destination, booking day can differ by route.
Online booking method
Chuseok tickets are sold via the Korail+ mobile app or Korail’s dedicated Chuseok ticket page on the Korail website. During the general-customer booking window, tickets cannot be purchased at station counters, sales agencies, or via TMO; a Korail integrated railway member account is required.
Payment deadline and leftover seats
A successful reservation must be paid within the specified window to confirm the ticket. General-booking tickets must be paid from 00:00 on September 12 until midnight on September 15. Seats unsold during the booking window will be released as leftover seats starting at 3:00 PM on September 11.
Last checks before travel
If you’re traveling during the September 23–27 operating period for Chuseok (holiday travel Sept 24–26), decide your departure and return dates, preferred time windows, and backup trains in advance. Verify detailed schedules and remaining seats again on Korail’s official channels.
